The cornerpins run completely through each frame member, which creates a very appealing and highly durable frame. The price spent at a frame shop won’t buy you this, and the feel between a standard laminate and these solid ones are remarkable. In 1998 Apple Computer started a very successful ad campaign with the simple tagline of “Think Different.” It consisted of mostly black and white images of iconic movers and shakers who left an indelible thumbprint on the 20th century. Amelia Earhart, Pablo Picasso, Thomas Edison, Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Muhammad Ali, and Jane Goodall were some of the people chosen to reflect the innovative spirit and idealism that Apple represented. The posters distributed for this campaign were in short supply and quickly became hot collector’s items. Knockoffs today are common, especially 8 x 10’s, but genuine prints are easy to distinguish and were only issued in 24 x 36, 14 x 20, and 11 x 17 inch formats. An even rarer find are the 11 x 14½ inch ad proofs that circulated between Apple and publisher Chiat/Day in the early part of the campaign, most of which were destroyed. These proofs contain some figures and images that did not make it to final printing, among which have become the most sought after. Time has and will continue to increase the value of these originals as Apple devotees continue to grow worldwide and collectors long for a piece of their history. I have become quite a collector myself in the quest for timeless and monumental wall décor to frame, and have been fortunate to acquire a quite limited supply. I find art in the color, grain, growth, and combination of the wood that frames these prints, in an effort to amplify the image and personality being framed.
